Question Is it possible

I was just wondering is there any possible way to roll back mileage on a 95 LT1. The reason I ask this question is I am in the stage of trading in my 98 v6 for a 95 Z28. Well I started to write down the mileage and to day I went up there again to check out something and to ask a few questions and I went to check the odometer (sp) to see what the mileage was well to day it showed 83162 (4/17) and on 4/06 it showed 83165 so I was just wondering is there any way possible to roll back the mileage. If it’s possible to do that then I’m gonna pass on that car but if it isn’t possible then maybe I just wrote/remembered it wrong. So please let me know thanks.

Re: Is it possible

If they rolled it back, wouldnt it have been more than that? I mean 3 miles isnt going to cost them a sale.

I would guess that you might have recorded it wrong. I mean, who would go to the trouble of tampering with the odometer for such a small amount of miles?

I thought that modern cars had tell-tale marks that show up on the odometer if it had been tampered with. Can't give you a positive answer if it is possible to do it without detection. You can always try a Carfax and see if any mileage irregularities show up.

I also think you wrote it down wrong. As stated, who would go through all the trouble over 2 miles?

Do a search because i thought i read somewhere that if you turned the mileage back on the "manual" mileage counter.... Not the digital. the sides of the black numbers would be stripped white from turning it back to show that it had been tampered with..... Don't know if there is any truth to it but hey it cant hurt to research it....Just my .02

Would it be worth it for even that little mileage?

Maybe they took it for a 2 mile drive in reverse.
