Is this possible?
Is this possible?
I just got my new motor up and running about 3 weeks ago. CC224/230, long tubes, manley proflow valves, RR's etc. Ion (madwolf) did my tuning, and it is great (BLMs close to or right on 128 always). I have put ~500 miles on it, no problems except for an intermitent SES light for an O2 sensor (I forget what code)
Just yestereday, the i was driving and the car started to stumble and pop while driving around and it would "load up" at idle. It smelled like it was running rich. If I would give it a few revs to about 2200 rpms, it would puff a little black smoke and then clear up and drive fine for a coulple minutes. Also, if I give it more than 50% throttle while I am driving around, the problem clears up and it accelerates fine. I have never seen an O2 sensor immediately cause a problem this bad.
Here is my theory. Is it possible that because of the bad O2 sensor code, the car is using a different fuel table, possibly one that Ion made no adjustments too? I imagine the car would run poorly if it was using the stock "limp home" or another fuel table like it. I plan to replace the O2 sensor anyway, but like I said before, I have never seen a bad O2 sensor cause this much trouble and I am trying to see if there is a reason it would or if I need to look for another problem.
EDIT: The car runs perfect when I start it up while it is cold. The problem does not start until it is warmed up after ~5-10 minutes of driving.
