Possibility of 11's?

Here's the story, I got my 96Z28 when I was 17 drove it and had a lot of fun. Car has been off the road for three years and is getting a complete rebuild. Wanted some opinions on anything I should do differently before I finish the project. Would like to hit 11's but more importantly smoke a 2011 5.0 mustang and 5th gen camaro.

Stock bottom end rebuilt to stock specs with ARP bolts. Got a free hotcam kit so that is the cam i'll def be using and looking to get a set of LE1 or LE2 heads? Buying the level 2 4l60e from Performabuilt transmission an looking at a 2800 to 3200 stall....The car will mostly be driven on the weekends and only see the track 4 to 5 times a year. Im also setting it up with Strano springs and Koni 4/4, watts link pretty much every other suspension aftermarket part. I have 315's ZR1 with Nitto N05 radial tire in the rear with and 275's up front. I ll have the car dyno tuned once its back together.

so the couple questions are.

1) LE1 or LE2?
2) which stall speed for street and track?
3) do i have the ability to reach elevens with this setup if i lay down 1.7 60' time?

Thanks for any input and im pumped to finally give my car the love and maintenance it deserves.

I hear everyone say it and I believe it. You will always want more and you should built it so you can, if and when that point comes.

Agreed. If your expecting 11s or big expectations out of hotcam setup you going to be dissappointed. Likely not going to happen unless you running more compression or put your car on a diet. If you put a bigger cam in with a set of LE2s you would be better off and totally ditch the watts link for how much it costs your better off spending that on a set of forged pistons. Trans should be more then fine and stall "should" be ok.

Re: Possibility of 11's?

That's the problem, I already have the Shortblock built so forged or bigger cam would be double work and wasted money. Another option i was thinking off was to get heads with a larger combustion chamber to the lower the compression ratio and add a turbo kit. AFR sells LT4 64 cc heads making the comp ratio 9.35. would this be all right for 7-8 psi? Will the shortblock hold up with the lower compression but not forged internals?

I was running 12lbs with 10 to 1 but my was on the fat side and I had an inner cooler and mr.freeze keeping it cooler

I know you would like to beat a 2011 stang. I seen 10.80's with just bolt ons gears and slicks. Like they say everytime you think you gottem they end up getting you lol
