Ported throttle body

Does anyone have any experience with the ported throttle bodies from Xtremefi in Austin, TX. I am considering the purchase of a 54mm throttle body from them and want to be sure about their quality of work. Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks!
Mike

I'm assuming you mean the ones that can also be found on ebay? If so, I can tell you it's of pretty good quality. I felt the difference immidiately. Big kick from a dead stop and most throttling in the low end. Had a little bit of sticking for the first 500 miles or so for an unknown reason, It would stick open causing a 600 rpm higher than usual idle, but that problem seems to have disappeared now. Though it should be noted that I didn't adjust a thing on the tb.

Looks wise it's of medium quality if you get the powdercoated one. Each one will be different but I can tell you mine had a little bit of pitting in the paint and I'd read of similar issues. I'd also read that the paint used is sensitive to TB cleaner, but have not cleaned the tb myself just yet.

Some say you need to port the intake slightly for 54mm tb, some say you don't. I have yet.

You won't need to have the intake ported to accept a 54mm TB.

No issues with the 54mm throttle body I ordered from them 2 years ago. Not pretty and shiny like many of the other after market throttle bodies out there, but way less expensive. Xtremefi was also great to deal with, good communication and quick delivery. I'd definitely order from them again.

I appreciate the feedback!! I was concerned about the surface being too porous since taking a stock TB to 54 mm is about the max, or at least that is what I understand from searches here. Sounds like Extremefi has a good product at a reasonable price. Plan to make the purchase.

Thanks!

Nope, the only porousness I saw was in the paint, the parts that mattered were clean.

FYI: I bought a 54mm AS&M TB and the intake needed porting. The holes are 52mm. I don't know how this rumor got started. Maybe because the other brands smaller aftermarket TBs are 52mm and do not require porting and we just but them in the same box in our brain.
