ported LT1 heads VS ported LT4 heads

I was told that having your LT1 heads ported to max would be better than having LT4 heads ported to max or near max. Yes the bench #'s are greater with ported LT4 heads, but what about the huge valves in the LT4's?

First hand opinions preferred, but anyone can respond with their $.02

Thanks!

The ported LT4s will do better than ported LT1s. The problem is the cost. By the time you get ported LT4s, you probably have at least $2500 if not more in the heads. My LT1s flowed 278/190 and cost $1150. A good set of ported LT4s could flow about 295/210, maybe more(?). Is that increase worth the added cost? If you have an unlimited budget, certainly. If you are like me, no. JMHO.
