Question Ported Heads without porting the intake? How much HP will I loose?

Or how much gain is there for if i port the intake to match the Stage 2 heads. I have done a search and all i found was mixed reviews. Thanks Alan

Gasket matching would help some but you wont gain a ton of power doing it(ie more than 5-10HP)....more benefit would be had if you worked on the inside of the intake with say epoxy...

Most people don't seem to gain much from porting the intake. That is part of the reason why there aren't any real aftermarket intakes... the stocker works just fine.

That is what I have been wanting to hear. I didn't want to wait to get it ported.
But just to make sure I am asking the question right, it want make much difference even if the ports on the heads are a good bit larger than the ports on the intake. right? thanks Alan

I dont think its so much the size of the ports but the relationship between the two that matters...I have pics of my old set of GTP's in my sig. The runners of the intake were opened up pretty good. If they dont line up good you could be losing some air flow potenial...
If these heads are going on the 396 in sig why not take the extra step to make sure its done right?

I am trying to find out what right is. I did a search and most people say in the search that there is not much gain at all if any. But most of the threads I found were not exactly the question I am asking.
The real reason why I want to know is I can get it running with in a week without porting the intake. I can port the tb part to match the 58tb but i don't know anything about the runners and there's not much info on it either. Thanks for the info and keep it coming and I just want my car back running Alan
