Popping @ WOT

I noticed it happening when I was in a dogfight with a Mustang GT last weekend. It was a 1/4 mile run from a stand still and each of my gear shifts at near redline (approx 5000RPM and up) car would start making popping sounds. When I would check the Scanmaster it would run @ 910-925mv. I don't think it's starving of fuel and checked for any exhaust leaks and I did Opti, 24lbs SVO injectors(APR@45), spark plugs, alternator and EGR approx 3 months ago and it wasn't doing it after that. I only noticed last weekend cause I haven't ran it @ WOT in approx a month.
By the way, I still beat the GT even with me popping about a 1/2 car length. He was a'00 GT with cold air and full Stillen Exhaust
I don't know where to begin looking, any suggestions?

I just fixed mine with new spark plugs and wires. Do a search on here, when I was looking for answers, I found a 17 page thread on it. Usually its one or more of the following:
coil wire, coil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, or the opti. I started with the cheapest and luckily that fixed it for me. Some people that have it still havent fixed it, after doing everything.
It varies with each engine. Good luck!
BTW, nice kill!

Just be sure to do it ONE THING at a time. No need going through the trouble of replacing wires if it is your plugs causing issues. Unless you put Autozone wires in, that is.

You're right, Last time I changed about $600.00 worth of stuff before I really knew it was my opti.
I won't do that again.

I have the same problem, and asked in a thread yesterday. the common answer was coil wire. I pulled the wire and there was all kinds of white gunky stuff on the coil connection point. so I sanded that off and cleaned it, and blew air into the rubber elbow on the wire to clean that, and popped it back on. I'm running w/ the gauge on E right now and don't have any dough at the moment so I only took it to WOT once, and didn't get the popping. So I will do further testing soon and pick up a new coil wire when I have a chance... btw, anyone know how the wire disconnects from the opti? its not a boot looking connection. I tugged it a bit and it didn't come off so I got kinda scared

My does a popping too, through the intake it sounds like. But mine only does it from and idle, like if i have my foot on the brake idleing and I hit the gas kinda quickly it will pop through the intake!! I have no idea what it is but I plan on changing plugs, wires, coil, fuel filter and all the crappy hoses. I just hope after all that it doesn't happen anymore.

Mine did the same thing, it was the coil wire. Mine got so bad I had to have the car towed, as eventually it will get no spark and not start. That was an expensive tow bill for a coil wire.

*whew* good to hear more and more people fixed the problem by changing the wire. If it was the opti i'd be walkin for a while....

Coil wire for me as well. Coil electrode was coated with this white powder.

Mine does the same thing, however it has only done it since I got my opti wet. I have new wires etc, so I'm blaming the opti for my problem.

I'm kinda leaning towards the coil itself.
Since my wires are fairly new and the opti is only 3 months old, I was going to go ahead and order the "High Energy" ignition system with a new coil and see what happens....
