POLL! Mixed thoughts, TH 400 or Moser 12 Bolt?

I have had mixed opinions on swapping for the TH 400 so I have decided I am going to do either one of these... Since I can do both for just about the same money, let me know what you guys think.

whats backing it now, a4 or t56?.....either way i'd go for a rear, a lot easier to break a 10 bolt IMO

If you like the manual, get a nice aftermarket clutch like a street twin.

If you like the auto, which will be faster, get it and a stall (not sure what all goodies autos need).

Either way you are going to need a 12bolt and aftermarket driveshaft if you plan on going fast consistantly and reliably.

I would go with the 12 bolt, the rear end is definitely the weakest link on these cars.

Unless your car is mainly a track only car why would you get rid of the t56? Your giving up a lot going from the t56 - t400 if you still drive it on the street a lot. I voted 12bolt.

the T56 actually has a chance at surviving behind your combo. I had a built 4l60e that went through some abuse, somewhere around 475 rwhp and upwards of 600ft-lbs with nitrous. the output shaft broke after 2 years of abuse and spraying through shifts.

I would suggest the 12 bolt or a 9". the 6 speed really abuses the drivetrain behind it,and i have seen 12 bolts come apart at the end of high powered manual trans racers. The 9" is much harder to break, and some may cry about giving up the 3% loss due to the design, but you'll never look back if you get it. I went right for the 9",been 3 years and no regrets.

Go for the rear end upgrade. That's the first thing I did when I built the new combe in sig. My last motor was a 383 on Nitrous. Blew the rear end up over ten times. Enough to buy a new one anyways.

I have a th400/3800stall with a 10 bolt behind it.. I'll find out if the 10 bolt will last on slicks at the track very soon. ...but I went with the 400 because my 4l60 was toast.

I'd go with the 12 bolt first and if the t56 gives you trouble later pull it out for a 400.
