Poll: Market for a 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped LT1 header?

Post up if you would be interested in 1 3/4 - 1 7/8 headers for your LT1. Kooks has asked us to find out if there would be any market for such an item as they have an LT1 car at their disposal to do some R&D on. So let us know

Thanks,
Chuck

i would definitely say this would be a awesome idea, i know that dynatech once made a set, but discontinued it, and i'm sure there are plenty of stroker/blown/big bore race lt1's that would love to have a set. I would think that a few things to keep in mind might be, the factory heater/ac box near the firewall (make sure the headers clear that), and the collector design, i have the dynatech lt's and they have the slip fit, which i have never really had a problem w/ myself, or possibly the jet hot style w/ the welded up collector.

thanks,

keep me posted!

i would definately be interested, but i dont care about ac/heaterbox room,i dont have it and would of gladly modified it for more plug clearance. would rather have the slip fit collectors for tuneability reasons.

They gonna use a standard or merge collector?

And I agree, an option for adjustable collector would be nice. Easy enough for them to build on the original design.

I'm not too crazy about a one-size-fits-all step header, just for the sake of having a "stepped header", but I would like to see a 1-7/8" primary all the way to the collector. I'm putting together an engine for a friend right now that we could really use these on. Otherwise we'll just go custom. But the market is there, stuff is getting faster all the time.

I would buy a set of 1 7/8 straight headers that would clear the a/c evap box, say ohhh 29 inches long or so?

I'm with Mindgame on this,

"I'm not too crazy about a one-size-fits-all step header, just for the sake of having a "stepped header", but I would like to see a 1-7/8" primary all the way to the collector. "

The length would be nice to have adjustable too, 30" is pretty good for most cars but anyone wanting to twist the motor and the guys who are going to use the 1 7/8 headers are more likely to need this also, if the primary length was able to be made from 26-30" on average that would be optmium for the high HP high RPM LT1's

1 7/8 all the way through, with a spread bolt pattern. And make a set that will bolt up to *15 degree heads This would make that kind of swap much easier for someone to do at home, as you wont have to have the car sent out for custom headers. I would DEFINITLY be in for a set of those!

Kooks has began development. They will be 1 3/4 x 1 7/8 stepped in stainless steel.

Far out, Kooks Custom Headers in Bay Shore, NY on da Island?

That's a pretty hardcore race shop.

Thinking of bringing my modified 70 Riv to them for some exhaust work.
