Poll for Clutches
First off im doing a T-56 conversion on my 92 camaro. I have all the parts except for a clutch setup. Im making Decent HP and want something that will last and not chatter. Here are the 2 eh 3 choices:
SLP= $348.95 Spec Clutch stage I=$379.99 Replacemnt clutch from Autozone=$270.00 w/ Lifetime Warranty If you can vote on either one that would really help me make my choice. Thanx guys. |
i hate SLP but what is decent HP? anyways you should be fine but if you race it hard you might want a spec stage 2
well i havent dynoed but in rear wheel im guessing about 280. I basically need a good clutch that last some weekend drag racing and basically street racing.
I'd go with SLP before I bought a SPEC.
alot of people, including myself have had problems with spec clutches ( try a search if interested) |
I love my SPEC stage II... James your on crack :D
If you are going to make serious hp in the future then do it once and go with a McLeod Street Twin. I do not recommend a Spec clutch since everyone I have seen has had nothing but problems.
No problems with my spec stage II. Have about 15k miles on it. Grabs good and still has excellent street manners.
The stock replacement sounds fine to me. If you are not planning on adding a power adder? It should last you a good while with the horse power you are running. HTH

For 280 rwhp you should be fine with the SLP clutch, it gets my vote.
15k, and absolutely NO problems with my spec stage II. I think everyone else with problems, anctually had other problems. Spec is a good clutch.:)
SLP it is, thanx guys for every input
I love my SLP clutch.

Out of those choices the SLP seems like the better one.. Then the AUtozone Replacement then the old one resurfaced.. I have a street twin and think weather you have a stock car or a balls to the wall modded one.. You can't go wrong with it. Its as SMooth as a stock clutch w/ a bit more pedal effort and twice the material as any other clutch therefore it lasts longer.. And Best of all. you will never have to upgrade....;) :D
