polishing?

anyone have any links for do it yourself polishing? i know awhile ago i saw somebody had a link of the process they used, cant seem to find it now. i was thinking of doing my valve covers soon, getting sick of looking at them in black so i figured a polished look would look good and brighten up under the hood a little. thanks guys! lata

If they are unpainted aluminum you may not have to apply sandpaper unless they are of an as-cast finish. Get some Mother's billet polish or something of a similar nature for polishing non-ferrous metals and simply rub the polish on the aluminum as you would with paint compound and buff with a clean cloth. It works real well on any aluminum component. I've tried it on the A/C components and tubing under the hood and they shine like hell. Lasts a long time too. If you do have to use sandpaper, try 600 grit wet/dry used wet, then polish.
