Aboslutley OVC wires. If you use the stock wires and routing your just plain dumb.
Install is a breeze.

I like my NGK Iridium plugs

That's going a little far don't you think? Stock routing will work, I used it for over 4 years and only burnt one wire in that time period.

I only did it b/c I had just put in new Taylor wires not too much before I installed my headers.

I just went to OTVC during my heads/cam install.

You can get the wires for 60$ from Elite on EBAY and get the wire seperators for ~20$. It looks nice and they are easy to work with.

I can uninstall and reinstall my OVC wires in less than 30 minutes including the beer break. A can also see the wires to ensure they dont touch the headers. Plus I wont have terribly blood knuckles. I can even change out a single burnt wire in less than 5 minutes.

How long does it take to uninstall and reinstall plug wires in the stock locations and ensure they dont touch the headers? The dealer said it would take 3 hours and $350 to do it right and utilize all origional clamps and retainers.

If a poll were taken the OVC wires would win out over the stock location wires assuming you have aftermarket headers.

Re: Plugs & wires

OVC are better, but my MSD's with stock routing are find. A few sleeves, and zip ties make it work fine.

I went OVC as well, however you probably won't need firesleaves.

Re: Plugs & wires

I had a set of over the valve cover plug wires on my car, they were Taylor's that I got from thunderracing I believe. They were getting old and some of the wires were reading bad when I tested them. I ordered a new set of OVC wires from elitesparkplugs.com. Let's just say I would not recommend dealing with them. The experience was so bad I ended up going to Autozone and buying a set of cheap stock replacement wires. It took me about 30 minutes to install these in the stock location with headers. I just took off the belt and tensioner so I had better access to the opti on the passenger side and ran the wires. It is very simple if you have headers. I will not be doing OVC wires next, I'm going to get some MSD wires and route them in the stock location.

Re: Plugs & wires

NGK plugs are a good choice... as for the wires, you could go either way, OTVC or stock routing, its up to you. If you do the stock routing, you are just going to have to make sure that the wires are secured away from the headers with some cable ties.

Re: Plugs & wires

When I had my 383/N20 WS6, I did the plugs and wires both ways. The first time I used the stock routing, the next season I did the OVC way. NO COMPARISION...OVC all the way. It's really a no brainer, especially if you've tried both methods. Plus, if you ever suspect a bad plug wire, you'll never be able to fully check out the wires to your satisfaction if you run them in the stock location.

I dont think hes talking about the time it takes to get the wires so much as the quality of the wires.
