plugs with edelbrock shorties

how the heck do you get to the #5 plug with these headers! i just put them on! the only way i can think is to pull them back off..... either that or cut a 5/8 socket in half and weld a handle to it.

anyone know of any special tools or tricks?

I had them on mine and #5 is definitly the hardest to do. The only thing I did was to use the socket you can put a wrench on (ebay) and to start it by hand just takes lots and lots of attempts(I think it took me 2 hours just to do that one).

i got it snugged in by hand, used an open end wrench what i could but the hex is so close to the head i'm having trouble staying on it. i'm using bosch super's right now. my 5/8 spark plug socket won't even slid on it, the tubes stop it from going on.

Take your standard spark plug socket and make sure the end has a place to put a wrench on it. Do not cut it short on the side that the ratchet attaches to but cut the opposite side and remove the rubber grommet from the socket. Cut however much you need to clear the primary tube. Slip it over the plug and use a wrench to turn it off. Save your self $20 from buying the SLP socket and just hack up a cheap china socket.

I still had the A/C in the car and it was so tight on that side with headers. Guess what? Now that I think about it those were Edelbrock headers on the Iroc also. It's been almost 6 years since that happened. No more problems with the Jet Hots.It wasn't till I bought my 94 and started looking at the slp site when I saw they had a "special" socket. You can buy those cheapy china sockets for like $3 at autozone.
