Which plug wires with SLP headers?

Going to install a set of 96-97 style SLP mids and I'm wondering which plug wires to use? The way the headers are shaped, looks like the stock routing would work best.

Do 8mm wires fit in the stock wire looms, or would I have to buy a set of universal SBC wire looms?

Anyone that has SLP headers have any input?

The 8mm wires will fit the stock looms. Taylor makes a good wire set in the 8mm sizing.

That setup will NOT work with the 96-97 style shortys though.

I had a hard time getting the MSD 8mm wires fitting in the stock looms that went around the alternator bracket, but still ran them in the stock location (under the headers) and made sure to use fiberglass sleeves when they were too close to the headers or block. I did not see that it would look very clean running them over the valve covers because you would need to heat shield most of them. That would be hard to make it look clean in such open view.

I believe the MSD's are all 8.5mm's. I know its only an extra .5 millimeter but it really makes a difference trying to fit them into looms.

I'd suggest sticking with stockers unless someone can show me the advantage of going with bigger ones. Keeping wires and hoses away from headers is important. I see no reason to make it more difficult by using larger wires or different routing unless you gain significant benefits by doing so.

If you want better fire, get yourself an MSD ignigition. JMHO

Yes, the MSDs are indeed a hair wider making them more difficult to fit those looms.

I have been using the stock wires with my set up, routing them as close to stock as possible. At a couple areas I wire tie the them loosely so they do not fall onto the header.

Ahhh yes, that is true... I did forget about the extra .5mm.

Just to clarify, the setup I said would not work was referring to the valve cover side mount looms, not the wire size.
