Question Please Help! Opti-problem.

I have a 93 Z28 and recently replaced the fuel pump and the Opti spark cap and rotor. It started up like a dream, ran amazing; drove it down the rode about 5 miles and on the way back to my garage it broke down. Turned out that i had a hose blow on the top of the water pump and killed the engine( it hasn't started since). Last night I took the cap and rotor off again and found moisture, so i cleaned and dried it out, put everything back together and STILL nothing. Could the distributor be ruined that easily?? Also, the security light stays on now..

Any ideas? anybody? ( i miss that beautiful acceleration)

Yes it can be ruined that easily, but the car WILL NOT start if the security light is on. Track down that problem and then try again.

Exclamation

Well...after leaving the key turned in the 'on' position long enough, the security light turned off. Still getting no spark. I'm guessing i'll have to tear down into that Optispark again and replace the rest of the distributor. Is there a way to test the Opti? Where is the pickup coil in this setup? hellllllllllllllllp!!!

Take opti off and disect completely. If the optical section and trigger wheel get wet, opti will not work @ all or shall cause a miss-fire. This has happened to me. I have restored opti to operation by cleaning coolant fluid from the rear internals in rear of the high voltage section. Opti's require alot of maintenance. I have purchased many opti dist. B.
