please help getting 9mpg

i just got a 383 stroker. I was expecting to get
anywhere between 12-14 mpg. I got a scan and it said
MAF failure, as a result I was running lean. Bought a new
MAF sensor thought it would help, didn't. I have Taylor wires and NGKtr55
plugs, and I just changed my fuel filter. Could the power programming from pcmforless have something to do with it. Im still breaking the motor in
so I have not done any aggressive driving, any suggestions would help.

MAF failure was all it showed? try cleaning the connections. What's your air/fuel ratio?

You need to get the car dyno tuned with a wideband O2 sensor to get your air/fuel ratios adjusted correctly. Low gas mileage might be the least of your worries if the car is not tuned to run safely.
