PLEASE HELP Car takes long time to start and hesitates at low rpms.
okay here is the deal I did a compression test on my drivers side but did not pull the fuel pump or ignition fuses I just pulled the coil wire. after that I lost my tach and it took like 20 seconds of cranking to start it. Also when it is cold it hesitates at low rpms. What the hell could it be I changed to MSd wires kept same plugs in though. changed the coil and ignition module and everything is the same. Could it be the fuel pump going out bc of the cranking during the comp test? spark plugs? or optispark? also the car runs much better when it warms up and will start right back up when hot. could it be the fuel filter? please help i am desperate?

well if your tach doesnt work, then try and hunt that down, im not sure what feeds the signal to the tach but research that and trace it down. try replacing the old wires. maybe a loose connection somewhere as well, just seems odd that it was running fine then kapoot after the compression test, may have been some of the wires you replaced or moved to do the test in the first place.
Check to make sure your wires aren't grounding out on a header or something.
Replace fuel filter, run some injector cleaner. Does the fuel pump sound like it's pumping when you turn the ignition on? Maybe you got bad plugs, opti is bad, no telling. Troubleshooting sucks man

I did not think about the fuel pump rerlay could that be it? the plugs looked fine I have new msd wires now and anew coil. from doing the comp test could that have blown the fuel pump relay?

oh yeah the fuel pump relay, it will cause you to have hard cold start ups. i had the same problem as did another local. replace it and then check it. also reset your pcm.

if you hear priming then your relay works, the fuel pump relay may not work but once you get oil pressure(or so i have been told) the fuel pump turns on, the starter turns the flywheel turning the crank, turns the oil pump, your ecm gets a oil pressure reading and turns on the fuel pump. texas do you hear the fuel pump priming before you start?
I think i hear it but it is faint, I did not pull the correct fuses when the comp test was done could that have anything to do with it. btw where is the fuel pump relay on 96 TA's? underhood or on dash? it would be greatly appreciated.
i tink its under the car by the tank in the back im not too sure. do you have a book for these cars? so you do hear the pump priming or no? another way to check it would be to turn the key to the on position, then go to your shrader valve and press it to see if you have any fuel that comes out. then youll knwo if you have fuel pressure or not. that way you can rule that out.
