hey guys....i have a 95 Z/28 LT-1 with 53,000 miles on it, this is my summer only car for the past 4 years...and it gets stored all winters. My battery keeps dying, so i just put a new one in today....and it works good but, i Dont hear my fuel pump kicking on when tun my key? i can usally hear it prime up but now...nothing at all. the engine is turning over it just wont start and run. What should i do??? could this be my fuel pump? or i am hopeing its just the Fuel pump Relay switch!!! anyone with some idea's please help me! Thank you!

Re: Please Help....95Z/28 Won't start!

if u think it ur relay .......try turning ur ignition to teh on position and listen to teh relay .....the relay is behind ur kick panel on the pasenger side.....if u hear it click 3 seconds after u turn ur ignition to on then it is most likely working......also in front of ur gas tank there is a connection that goes to ur sending unit to teh pump...check and c if those are corroded or unhooked....most likely if ur relay is good and ur pump is not priming then ur pump is dead

easiest way to change pump is through the trap door method....i used that method and had to acess the pump more than twice already from a mistake ive made...

if teh ignition switch is bad ur guage cluster wont even work at all...the ignition switch powers that aprt if teh PCM that controls many funtions that keep the engine running

Is there a fuse also to check on a 95. I could not find this info in the manuals. I checked all the fuses in both boxes and they seem okay.
If there is a fuse where is it located and which box? I will double check it.
TIA

Re: Please Help....95Z/28 Won't start!

IM in the process of doing this same thing with one of my 1995 Trans Ams. The fuel pump just went bad. I checked the relay it was good, i had the option of using my other relay from the other car to make sure, so my next obvious thing to check was fuel pressure. I hooked up the gauge and almost absolutly have no pressure while turning the key. Everyone once in a while the car will fire but then die if its been sitting. I used the trap door method also. It took me all of 5 minutes to cut the access hole with a cutting wheel clean and looks good too. The next thing i have to do is find a decent priced pump to put back in. I considered dropping the tank also, but if your gonna own the car for some time like me, then its probably best to trap door it so you can work it on down the road if need be. Iv decided im gonna make 2 trap doors so i can do this to my other 95 TA also. But to be straight up check your fuel pressure while trying to start the car.

So...it looks like its time for a new fuel pump. Whats this trap door method? how do i do that? what all is involved? do i still have to drop my rear end and pull the tank?? Thanks!!! Ohhh and my car is a 95 Z with 53,000 on the clock....i cant beileve the pump went out at that low of a mile???

Re: Please Help....95Z/28 Won't start!

http://www.worldisround.com/articles/12533/index.html thats the trap door method....the easiest way to do ur pump...belive me its greta to have

yez haveing 53k on the clock is very odd for a pump to go...butt it can still die...maybe if u ran ur tank dry a few times...or very low and it burned out...or maybe dirty gas....dirt is one of teh main failures of pumps..

have fun whatver way u do this
i wish u luck and hope u dont run into some problemns i did

Re: Please Help....95Z/28 Won't start!

Cutting the hole is really easy if you have the right tools. You can use a dremel but your gonna need alot of cutting wheels. I started with a dremel then realized i could use a cutting tool took all of 3 minutes to use cut the hole out. Your gonna have to reach the quick disconnects with a pair of long needle nose pliers or screwdrivers. But its not bad.
