ok well my car has been sitting for about 2 weeks not being used. my fuel rail was off cause of fuel leak. today i fixed leak until my new rail comes in. put everything back on. i have done this before in past no problems.

now i hook everything back up. checked oil level is good. fuel pump works cause i can hear it plus its getting fuel to rail no problem.

i go to start car it turned over a few times all good and then a pretty loud bang. tried turn over again and bang.
now it doesn't turn over at all.

now i was leaking quite a bit of fuel while it was sitting so i figured i might not have much but that wouldn't cause it not to turn over if i was low on gas.

so i dont know it sounds bad to me but i dont know what went wrong. please help me.

 

Wish I could help you, but the only advise I can offer is to wait until you get a new fuel rail and make sure you put it all together correctly.

Also, check your fuel pressure once you get the new rail on. Should read around 45-47 with the vac line off and around 8 less with the vac line on.JMHO

 

sorry maybe i didn't explain it right. i have the fuel rail right now with no leaks back on the car. everything hooked up.

just wouldn't turn over.

i have an update though i just went out and tried starting it a few times and it fired right up after a couple tries and seems fine.

one thing i noticed is that i did hear mainly when i would rev and let off gas there would be some clicking noises sometimes.

basically i believe the starter is gone. does that sound right?

i heard some other people talking about their car wouldn't start all the time and one guy i remember said when he was driving he could hear some clicking or popping noise sometimes.

someone said his starter was screwed.

 

My guess is the an engine backfire screwed up your starter or knocked a few teeth off of you flywheel...

 

another update. i started my car again a few times. turns over slow sometimes. just with it idling every minute or 2 you will hear some weird clicking kind of noises not from engine back further.
its hard to explain but it just sounds like somethin is loose or let go.

you will hear some clicking noises and then at the end there will be like a hollow clunk. not really that loud but its kind of like if you took a stick or somethin and hit your exhaust. then there will be no noise again for like a minute or 2 and the same clicking and that clunk.

sounds like something loose hitting something. only thing i can think of is the starter is screwed. i can't think that anything else is wrong cause when the car is started it seems to run perfect except for the noise.

can't really get outside today and take a closer look cause its raining.

 

ok well just went out and got under car and u can feel and hear something hitting the flywheel housing i guess it is. thats what is making the hollow clunking sound.

weird thing is that like i said before this noise only happens every few minutes.
its not a constant noise.

car starts usually every time i try but its slower rolling over.

basically either flywheel or starter or both are causing problem.

is it easy to take off flywheel housing. just looks like a couple bolts holding it in is that right?

 

well even though no one might care lol but i took the fly wheel cover off and in the bottom was half of my starter.
good news flywheel teeth look good.
basically i just need a new starter.
anybody have a rough idea on a price?
