as for placement all the searching i did when i installed mine said to put it jsut befoe it goes over the axel....which is basicaly under the passenger back seat. there is actually an indentation right there that it fits into. I also wodunt' face it straight down as taht lowers ground clearance. tilt it down a little but keep it tucked up closer to the car. here is a pic of it.

Re: Placement of a CUT OUT
Thanks, anyone put it a little futher back? Like in the curve up over the rear end so the cut out goes strait out (at the rear end) and with the flow. I just think that where the pictures show it is located, not as much exhaust will flow out of the cut out as it would as I previously mentioned.
Re: Placement of a CUT OUT
So you guys say to put it right where the y pipe and i pipe meet? My cat back system is welded on there right now though, should I just wait for the installation of this when I get my headers and new y installed? I got the catback system used, and I had to get a 3" to 2.75" reducer because the i pipe was a little short...
They will probably have to cut some of that off because the LT's will be longer than the stock manifolds. Am I in a bad situation? Or could I just get it installed where the i and y meet right under the passanger side door? I got a 3" cutout as well.

Re: Placement of a CUT OUT
I still recomend to go back farther to jsut before the I pipe goes over the axel. the sound will still rumble the car but not as bad as if it were up in front and less chance for fumes. and a nice little spot for it to fit right there too!!
Re: Placement of a CUT OUT
for those of you who think there is fumes, well there is no such thing unless you have a diesel in your car wich i dont think you do. Either that or your rings would have to be shot. I've had my cutout for a long time now and i have never had a problem with fumes ever and there is also a nice little spot under the passenger door for the cutout as well.
Re: Placement of a CUT OUT
so your telling me there is no noxious gasses comming out of your tail pipe?? so any of us could jsut go wrap our mouths around a tail pipe and suck away with no ill effects? sorry but there is a reason your not supposed to run a car in a closed garage, and why your supposed to roll the windows down if you get stuck in a snowbank. maybe with the cutout open and going down the road the fumes don't come into the car but sitting at a light or in traffic they sure could.
you and I might be talking about the same spot jsut describing it differnt, but he sounds like he wants to put it where the Y pipe meets and that is up under the passenger footwell. mine rumbled the car enough under the back seat I cant imagine having it any farther forward.
on a side note when I put my Mccord power plate on the car didn't get any quieter from the soutside but it sure seemed to settle down the noise inside along with some of the rattles it caused......yes the sound waves caused things to rattle.....part of the reason I cant imagine having it under the passenger floor board.

Re: Placement of a CUT OUT
HERE'S mine.
Kinda didn't have to think about where to place it. Even though it way in the back and after the cat. There is still a noticable difference when it's open.
If you are in traffic or driving slow exhaust fumes will be an issue if the cut out is under the front of the car. amoving it toward the rear or driving at higher speeds will greatly reduce the probelm.

dude, my headers are aimed into the cabin using the dashboard vents. I have removed the heating system in my car to save on weight and the exhaust gases keep me warm with the t-tops off....so no problems here other than driving like a reckless ****.
Re: Placement of a CUT OUT
I have mine right where the ypipe and ipipe meet. It is way loud. Not unbearable if you are cruising but giving it gas is crazy. Especially at WOT. But I bought it for max hp so I put it as close as I could. The cut out lets the exhaust out before several more hp killing bends in the exhaust.

No i'm not saying if you lock yourself in a garage and fire your car up there won't be fumes, and im not saying to suck on the tailpipe either but, when the cutout is where i have it, RIGHT UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR, you wont smell fumes nor will they be a problem and they never will be
Almost everyone of my f-body friends have cutouts and none of us have ever had a problem with fumes so i doubt anyone else will unless they stick their mouth around the cutout and suck. Other than that there is NO FUMES.

Re: Placement of a CUT OUT
If my stock y pipe is 2.75 or 2.5 and my new pipes are 3", do I have to wait to put a 3" y pipe on there to put the cutout on? I'm thinking of putting the cutout on now, then putting the headers/y pipe in like 3 weeks.
