pissed off at my car - just about to sell it

okay ... here's what has gone wrong with my car in the last few months:

Opti/Ign. Coil : Okay, this is normal ... not really worried about it so i just fixed it ... no problem

Clutch slipping: Well, its barely grabbing at all ... i guess its normal wear and tear - whatever...

Electrical Problem: Headers melted thru part of the wiring harness ... okay, bottomed out on a pot hole and the things drooped too low - no problem..

Car won't go into gear: Okay, tried replacing the clutch hydraulics ... didn't work, tried replacing tranny fluid - not working ... I think the clutch or some other part is fubar, so to make a long story short, i now have no car to drive and i'm faced with buying a Honda Civic or something shortly.

I'm just too pissed off to think right now. This thing has had nothign but problems in the last 30k miles. Its becoming a maintenance hazard. If i sold it, i'd probably end up getting a civic and a 94/95 mustang GT or something and mod that car. This camaro has just been one thing after another - convince me to keep it someone - i need help!!

Maintainence is just part of it my friend....preformance cars need it more often because of the demands we put on them. Sounds like you need a new clutch and or slave cylinder....both common items that wear out . If your not on the GAFBA forum allready go there and post and more than likely youll find some guys willing to help you out that live in your area.

I hope I never feel that way about my car and I just get rid of it cause I want another one. They all have there quirks now and then and I know how you feel if its your everyday driver but now that I have three cars if it breaks I can fix it right away or let it sit till I am ready. I made a hasty call due to a tranny problem on a truck I had and it was a minor problem and sold it, wont make that mistake again. Ya just have to sit back ( hard to do ) and take your time it will work out in time. Sorry so long just dont make a hasty call when mad never turns out right.

It sucks I know but...

When your car gets older and the milage racks up, I just noticed that your maintenance bills can start cutting into your modding bills. Headers are a PITA too. Just get it all fixed, cause once it's good to go you know you've got a good car. You don't wanna risk buying a lemon, even if it's just a beater, if you don't have to.

Fix it and drive it.

If you need a reliable daily driver then don,t use a race car as a daily driver.
We mod them for a reason, to go fast.
If you beat on your car then buy a beater so when (not if) it breaks you won,t get stuck without a car.
Some get lucky and can mod the hell out of a car and its reliable but its very rare.
The more you mod the car the less reliable it becomes, it goes with the territory.

I just had the same problem with my clutch. I have also had the same thoughts of selling mine, but I want to sell it because it sucks in any wet conditions and has no ground clearance. I realize that this is to be expected with cars like this.

If you need sympathy, go to some other board and buy a Corolla while you are at it. The problems you have are all minor, and wear related or mod related. Big deal.
In four month period two years ago I had to replace : Waterpump, headgaskets, opti, both O2 sensors, ignition wires, starter, alternator, and rebuild the front suspension.
This year: fuel pump, front brakes (second time) and last week the wiper arm assembly and module. Now the ABS light is on -failure of the left front reluctor wheel.
I still have the car. I still enjoy driving it. I don't believe I will be selling it anytime soon. Because when I put the boots to it, it makes me smile and the Mustang boys pretend they are parked.
And you know what? All that work still cost less (in parts as I did it all myself) than most people spend in five or six months in lease payments.
I wouldn't even sit in a Civic. But that's me.

Honestly, it sounds like you got what was coming to you... headers melted your wiring harness??? WTF is that, obviously you screwed up putting the headers in because you are the minority when it comes to burning wiring harnesses on headers. Don't blame the car for your mistake. I have heard of plug wires burning but I mean I put my plug wires in myself and this car is the first car I have ever worked on, I used common sense and routed the wires properly and I have had no problems to date (about a year). I understand it's frustrating but it's not the cars fault. About the opti/coil, how many miles do they have on them? Judging by what you said it was due for a change.

If you have any car with a slipping clutch that does not grab at all, you get a new clutch, regardless of if it's a camaro or a honda. It seems that you have some tranny issues and I'll be the first to tell you that if you leave one problem unchecked it usually leads to another. I'm guessing you have some kind of problem with your pressure plate/throwout bearing not letting the car go into gear. Make a day project out of pulling your tranny and get down to the bottom of the problem. When your car is running good you will think why would you ever sell it.

Good luck.

so what you are saying is your car went through a normal wear and tear on parts like the clutch?

headers- cm'on- you cant hold your car responsible for any mods
trans sucks, but it happens. on any car.
