Pinout for oil pressure sending unit needed

As topic states. My engine came out of a caddy that had an idiot light, so all I have is a 2 pin connector w/ a single wire out. Need the wiring diagram for a sending unit for a gauge so I can wire it up.

Thank you!

Jeff

Re: Pinout for oil pressure sending unit needed

Thank you for sending that, I really appreciate, BUT hehe, I do have the service manual and that didn't help.

The motor as stated above is a caddy LT1, the oil pressure sending unit that is on there now is about 1.5" in length and has a small 2 pin connector on it w/ one wire coming out, which I'm assuming only runs a idiot light since my oil press gauge pegs when I crank the motor, the sending unit for the gauges is about 3-4" in length and has three pins. I need to know what those three pins are so I can wire up the gauge cluster correctly. I'm assuming possibly +5v, gauge, gnd? I'll look through the manual tonight to see if they show an actual pinout for the sensor itself. I know my 97 had all that information in it, but have found the 94-95 manuals are lacking.

Thanks again!

Jeff

Well if thats the case you are using the sensor from the caddy with a light that switch is an on off switch where the switch from a f-body is variable like it shows in the schematic.I can also get the schematic from a caddy as well but your problem is with the sensor call the auto parts and if i rember right i only have on wire coming off my sending unit i have my engine out right now i can look,I think those other 2 pins you are talking about are used on other vehicles for the fuel pump circut cuts power to the pump if oil pressure drops off

4th gen F-bodies use one wire from the sensor to the gauge. The other terminals on the sensor are not used. Sensor resistance to ground (in ohms) increases with pressure.

if you were to look inside the 3 pin sending unit its the top pin by its self the two on the bottom are for other vehicles like i said to run the gauge pin # 31

preciate it guys!! That was it, the middle pin is what I needed to know. I'd love to wire the fuel pump through the sending unit, but that would be more of a headache than anything. Contacted my friend that bought my service manuals and he just emailed me the pinout. going to stop by nappy this afternoon and pick up a new sending unit.

Thanks again!!!
