pin hole leaks... OMG
pin hole leaks... OMG
to top off a new waterpump, now it looks like at least one, maybe two of my radiator hoses are LEAKING... pinhole sized leaks.
the first one comes off the top of the waterpump on the drivers side. it *looks* like a normal hose... is this correct? i can just get it from discount auto?
the second one comes off the passenger bottom, and its got some sort of in-line device on it and i don't know what it is. if i cut off the end of the hose so that the pinhole is cut out then it might be too short before it hits that in-line thing. i'm not sure where it goes to but it looks like it runs back to the firewall, possibly heater hose? whats the part number for this thing and how much does it cost? it looks like a real pain in the rear to replace...
also, are there any kits from GM that replace all the radiator hoses? i have a feeling that my 8 year old hoses are going to all start dumping on me pretty soon...

Yes typically any hose will work. About the heater hose, they are crimped on and will only be replaceable with factory components. I've seen some guys actually saw off the crimping and get a standard heater hose with two hose clamps and tighten it directly on the steel pipe. It seems to be working for them.
Jason Cromer is a factory parts guy in Florida. I don't have his number but if you do a search, you'll find him.
Good luck.

I checked Shoebox's site and his link is down. Do a search for Shoebox and click on the link in his Signature. You'll find some good graphics which will help you. It isn't tough. I don't have the number on me but I'll push this to the top.

here is the leak:

would it be OK to just cut off about 1 - 2 inches of that hose and then just slip the remaining over the waterpump outlet?

If the leak is far enough away from the restrictor, I would cut it where the hole was and put in a hose barb. Adjust or add length of hose as necessary to make it work.
