Pilot Bushing or Bearing? Does it matter that much?

I put in a new pilot bearing about 5,000 miles ago when i did my clutch last time. I'm doing it again this weekend. I ordered a pilot bushing from Jason Cromer but i recieved another pilot bearing. I won't be able to get a bushing now since its Friday and i'm stuck at work all day. Do you think it matters that much really that i should wait another week to do my clutch install. Because i don't think i'm gonna make it another week the way the clutch is. If its not then i'll just leave the pilot bearing that i put in last time in.

youll want a bushing b/c bearings can go bad.. why spend all that time putting in a cheap part that has a high likelyhood of failure? i know you can get the bushings at most local auto parts stores.. got mine at All Pro.

Bushing, less parts/potential to break.

I called them and they said they don't have a bushing for my year. But they have one for a 92 camaro z28. Is it the same bushing?

i kinda remember them bringing me out a bearing and i told them id really like a bushing so they got me out a bushing from an early 350... they were the same size. so i think you should be alright but id still compare it to a bearing if you have one.

I got a pilot bushing from kregan auto parts. It is the exact same with on the outside and the inside. But the length of it a tiny bit longer. Do you think that is a problem? It is barely longer but it is.

I got a bushing from O'Reilly's. I went with a bushing for the fact of it won't break. Break a bearing and there goes your input shaft all ate up.

Only reason the part is used is when you're in gear and the clutch is pushed in anyways...(maybe neutral too?), but either way, only when the clutch is in...

Correct me if I'm wroong

i believe its always in use as long as the tranny is in place.

I recently did my clutch and replaced my stock bushing with a new bearing. I hear about people saying the bearings can break, which is true but there really isnt much room for them to come apart and screw up the input shaft. I would think the bearings would make less friction since it has spinning needle bearings. If you have a bearing use it. My friend ran with no bearing or bushing for a while. lol not smart but just to make a point they arent the most critical part in yuor car:-)
