Piecing my full exhaust together?
I am gonna turn 18 in like two months and I think I am gonna ask for a full exhaust system. Headers, hi-flow cat, and cat-back. I need to piece some up though because I don't know what headers will fit what cat, cat to exhaust. If any of you have a full exhaust that fits together nice with emissions legal parts in California I would like to hear about it. I want a flowmaster 3" cat-back but that is all I have decided on. I need help to match a setup together. Any help would be great, thanks.
i would say for max power. I would go with SLP headers, stock cat, and a good stainless steel catback. All catbacks should fit any header and cat setup. I am running SLP headers with stock cat and borla, sounds great and fits together fine. Everyone is going to tell you to stay away from flowmaster its to restrictive. The reason i say keep the stock cat is because a hi flow isn't going to help make anymore power really, and it won't clean up your emissions as well either. If you ever go with a cam you will want a good cleaning cat so you can pass cali. emissions in my opinion.

Too bad about the emissions. Don't listen about the flowmaster too restrictive stuff. (Do a search there is a whole thread about it). Any catback will be an improvement, but I think the alum vs the stainless sound better. IMHO.
Check out my sig below. First and foremost get the proper header gaskets and bolts. This is the one bolt-on mod you want to do right the first time. It's a good idea to get new 02 sensors also. I got them from Jason Cromer for $77 shipped to my door. I don't remember his contact # but you can get it if you type in samtaylorbuick on the web. One thing about my setup is that everything is welded from the y-pipe back. I know some guys don't like to do this but living in N.J. I also have to deal with emissions so I doubt I'll ever change my setup. I even have the exhaust tips welded to the muffler to prevent the dreaded exhaust tip hang. Since you plan on replacing the stock manifolds w/headers it's a good idea to change your plugs and wires too if you have'nt already. One last thing if you got the extra dough get ceramic coated headers. Besides looks, they won't rust and keep engine bay heat down considerably. I purchased my full setup from Summit for a little over $1,100 shipped to my door. I hope this helps and good luck.
