I'm definatly glad I'm changing it. And the spring in it was weak as hell to, it wasn't even seating the bypass valve all the way shut against the side.

Yeah tell me about it. I'm guessing the oil filter caught all of the **** before it went through my motor since I don't see how it could still be running if it didn't.

You gotta take your intake manifold off and you can access the drive I believe.

Bolted to the rear main cap.

That oil pump looks like it had shrapnel run through it, guess thats what happens after half a dozen cam and head swaps though . Lucky the filter caught most of that garbage.

One of the lobes started coming apart on my gm846 about a year ago so I'm guessing thats where it came from. And this is only my 4th cam swap and 2nd head swap... well 3rd head swap this motor has seen if you count the heads that were on it when i bought it.

Yeesh never seen a billet cam core fail without a lifter failing first. Got any pics of the lobe?

No I never took any. There was some damage to the valve stem tip on it too so I think I was getting valve float, and the lifter roller was damaged just like the lobe was.

Thats the exact reason the first item of my winter build is a brand new oil pump and a white spring. Just received it this week as a matter of fact. That oil pump is beat to hell though.
