Pics of hidden shiftlight install w/in

I decided to mount my shiftlight inside of the left upper a/c vent. Even though it is behind the vent I can still see it light up in the daylight with sunglasses on . However, it is pointed directly at my eye. At nighttime it is VERY bright.

No extra parts (other than some velcro) were used in this install. All you need is a sharp knife and some creative thinking .

questions/comments?

very nice.. good thinking man! it seems like most honda owners want everyone on the road to see their shiftlight lol.. but it's only important to the person doing the actual shifting. i'm into the stealth stuff myself and you did a sweet job hiding that.

Very nice move. I hate the way those things look just bolted to the dash. Nice job!

Excellent Idea!
I suppose that because of the shape of the light and the lack of vents around a 97's steering wheel that it just wouldn't work in my ride.

rofl, and half of the shift light are on autos, , now i could understand someone with a 200 r4, that has to upshift manually, but in the 4 cyl fartmachines, its just plain hilarious....

isnt taking the dash off fun? i put in a set of white faced indiglo gauges not too long ago and duuude.. i didn't expect to have to take off so many pieces. i probably could have just lifted up the velcroed cover up a lil to get a wrench in there, but i wasnt sure how many places it was attached so i ended up taking off the roof supports plastic too. my biggest fear was dropping a screw in my dash and having a permanent rattle lol. laters bro

Mortal: The dash isn't a real fun job, but its much easier after r&r'ing ita few times while you dial in your shiftlight .

Jon: Are you guys in the UH car club? We are having a meeting this weekend. I would defintely be down to hang out with you and Neil!

Pandamonkey: Maybe you could put it in the "normal" a/c vent? I kinda 'winged' the whole install, and used what I had to work with. Maybe you could get an idea if you pulled the dash?

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Nice job on the shift light man. Really like it and how it is hidden and only shows when it counts. Great idea and makes me think about putting my light in there like that also.

Looks good man, I like the hidden stuff also!
It is true about the 4bangers, I've seen plenty of shift lights on autos and of course the monster 5" tachs. Looks pointless to me.. OH yea don't forget the pillar mounted fire extinguisher
