i have an lt1 block that just threw a rod, the block was new but one of the connecting rods was missing a nut, any how it scored my cylinder hole so i want to bore it out so that its smooth again, gunna take it to a machine shop, buti was wondering how that works , if u bore it out that means u gotta get bigger pistons ? What should i bore it to, and what pistons do u recommend that arent insanely priced , but are durable. my last ones shattered, do i have to by a new crank as well?

 

Bore it .030" over, for 355 cid.
Keith Black hypereutectic? are well priced and good for a daily driver, I think LT1 stock pistons are flattop? with valve reliefs? - Someone else will have to chime in here, but you can find them in the summit catalogue or online. & Yes your pistons will be oversized as well. You'll need new oversize rings too, Total Seal makes some gapless stuff that will help save a few hp.

You don't need a new crank unless there's gouges or cracks in it, the machine shop can examine it and tell you if it's good or not.
