performance shift button install
performance shift button install
I have some free time now to finially install the button. I know theres a write up somewhere on how to do everything from the parts you need to the install itself, does anyone know the link? thanks
I did mine in a 95Z28 about 1.5yrs ago. I think I halfass got it right. I could never hook up from launch when I enabled it, don't know if it was just in my head, or it actually did something.....mind power is an amazing thing!!!
Hey guys did you know that the trannys in z28's are factoryt set in "performance mode"?
A scanmaster can verify this.
The trans-ams weren't, requireing the switch for stiffer shifts.
Why would you want the switch, to shut it off?
I just don't see the logic in this mod, just my $.02

I have the 'performance mode' mod on my 94 Z and there is an OBVIOUS difference with it ON...

Why would there be a switch if it was on in the first place?

I don't see how a scanmaster can tell you anything about it. You have to be able to look at the shift tables in programming to see what the settings are. I am not aware that a scanmaster can do this.
The pcms have two sets of shift tables. One for normal mode and one for performance mode. It's just that the Firebirds had a switch to enable the performance mode. The switch was left off the Camaros, but the tables in the pcm were still there. Hence the retrofitting of the switch to turn the performance mode on/off.

That's truly a myth (even from the f-body faq).

He then looked around for the switch like the t/s'a have. Then I told him there was none.
So this is where I get this from.

I don't know the manufacturer of the scan tool used on my car by the mechanic (he was scanning for the stumble/idle surge problem I have) and in the overview area it had a heading "transmission performance mode-on"

Okay, I see what you are saying in that regard. However, it HAS to be turned on to be active. Every time you turn the key off, it turns off and does not automatically come on when you start the car again. That's just the way it works. I can confirm this is true by the tell-tale lamp for the circuit and also Datamaster logs.

I wasn't looking to argue, compared to most of you all I'm still
an amateur at this stuff, and my knowledge is limited.
