Performance mode shift on a ´96 z28
Performance mode shift on a ´96 z28
Does anybody know for sure if the performance shift modification can be accomplished in 1996 OBDII cars?
I've read a lot of posts and did not find info on this. Some posts say that it "can" be done, some sites say that it only applies to 94-95 cars.

Thanks for the input, Shoebox. I´ve been at your site and checked some of the great information in there. Cool.
I know the performance and normal tables are stored in the PCM. I was wondering if the PCM supported switching between both modes and if the wiring in the 1996 and 1997 cars included the wires for the momentary switch and the indicator lamp. I guess I will have to remove the kick panel and find out.

I did it!
Following the procedures for the 94-95 models I installed the switch and the indicator led and now can use the normal and performance shift tables as desired.
The performance tables are a great. Shifts are firmer and the shift points at part throttle are far more agressive than the normal tables. Downshifting is also much more responsive.
With a few bucks and a couple of hours invested is like having a completely new car.
