I have the same problem going on myself. I have a 97 SS and I bought a grille for it but it is actually to big. Prolly about by 3/16 to tall. I posted and I was told that for aftermarket hoods for 93-97, you should try an LS1 grille. I havent tried it yet, but I looked and they are a tad bit smaller. Hope that helps!!

They go in from the underside of the hood (pretty sure) and that is why you think that they are too big.

I had the original grille off and it came off from the front. It kinda just snaps in place. I compared the new one to the original one and it is a good size diffrence between the two. Then I snapped the old one back in from the front. I dont think it is possible to get it from the back. Unless you have super skinny, very long arms!!

There is no way in hell i can fit my arm in there, Whats this about an ls1 grill?? I have the rk sport hood too by the way... I called SLP and they said I should try the old style grill without the clips.. One snaps in and i guess the other one gets glued from behind it... I dunno..

they come out from the front. there are two little tabs on the top and bottom that hold them in. a screw driver witha twoel around it will pop them right out. i had my factory one out to get rid of all the belows in the hood.

not sure about the different sizes. i would imagine the aftermarket ones would be a different size becouse the hoods look alittle different

They come out from the front... not the back

Mine was removed with dental tools A couple small hook tools. "Hook" it and slightly tug it to the point you can get a gap in the top or bottom then use another hook type tool to pry there as well. They are a pain to get out but do come out from the front!
