I don't think it would much hurt your performance very badly that is. It's main purpose is to provide ventilation and relieve some pressure. I would think you might have heard it if it had come disconnected. Mine came loose one time and it sounded like someone had punctured a bottle of compressed air in my engine compartment.
My best guess would be maybe a 1-3 hp loss.

Do you mean the valve was pulled out of the driver's side of the intake manifold? Was it still attached to the line that goes to the front of the intake? That would create a small vacuum leak. Shouldn't affect things all that much, but it is a vacuum leak. If the line was off the front of the intake, you'd have a larger vacuum leak, and notice it more.
