Re: pcmforless vs madtuner

Both will do a good job for such a basic bolt-on car, but I've always used PCMforless.com.

Re: pcmforless vs madtuner

My car runs well with bolt ons and and OBDI conversion PCM from Madtuner. It does feel like there is a bit left on the table up top that a real tune would fix.

I have a PCMForless Tune, and and it's worked out well.

I would say they both have fans on the board, so you should feel comfortable using either one.

Re: pcmforless vs madtuner

I've used PCM4Less in the past for other vehicles, no issues and made great power.

Just sent my PCM for the TA out to Ion at MadZ28 this morning because he is like 30min from me and came recommended. We'll see how it turns out.

+1

Whoever you use, be sure to give them as much information about your car as possible, gear ratio, CAI, rear tire size, exhaust, etc.

Those that complain about mail order tunes usually don't give their tuner enough informaton. Better yet ask the tuner what details they need first.

Thumbs up for PCMforless.

My mail order tune was literally spot on. When I went in for a dyno tune, Bryan was able to expand my rpm range and add a little timing above 5000rpm for some more power, but it was almost perfect.

I went with madtuner but would not again in the future. If I do a mail order tune again I will go with pcmforless.

I'm curious why you wouldn't. I've had good dealings with Ion with many different cars over the past 10 years.

I can't say anything bad about MADZ28 because I've never dealt with him. But I can say, I'm sure nobody has ever owned as many GM V8's as Bryan Herter (tune wise) and nobody has ever tuned as many GM vehicles as he has over the years. He is probably the most experienced tuner of our time for fuel injected GM V8's. He had my CC306 bolt on car DEAD ON the very first time he ever did a tune for me. I have dealt with him 3 times. The first two times I drove to his house in Indiana PA and handed him my PCM. He is the most hospitable car guy I have ever dealt with along with the most knowledgeable as far as tuning goes. I stopped by his house again for an injector update and a few other things and then met up with him for a dyno tune with my buddy. He had used a lot of aftermarket parts including cams (my cam specifically) in his own personal combinations and has tuned HUNDREDS of cars using the mods in most combos. His canned tune was so good on my combo and his customer relations were second to none. His results and reputation speaks for itself.

Re: pcmforless vs madtuner

I think highly of both of these guys. Bryan has been doing local dyno tuning for years and has made many trips across the US tuning cars. I just wondered what happened with the other fella's experience.

I use Ion for mail order tunes because I'd had great luck with him, however if he stopped doing them I wouldn't think twice about dealing with Bryan.

Same here, interested to hear more. My PCM is with Ion as we speak and when I called on Thursday he was more than helpful. I understand sometimes things happen and you can please everyone, but just curious because he came highly recommended by a local so I figured I'd give it a shot.
