ive "heard" flashing SES is caused from misfires.

but i have had the exact same problem you just described and it was a burnt plug wire or 2 from my header install... that does cause a misfire. i am probably 95% confident thats your problem. inspecting the boots and wires will just kill time and wont find many suspected trouble spots unless one is obviously fried so popping your hood at night is the easiest way to look for the culprit. and if youre not sure what to look for, its small archs of electricity.

Opti...

Wait a minute. Did you say you had "96000" miles on your opti? I would strongly recommend installing a new one. I mean it's basically a distributor cap and rotor just like on older rear mounted distributors and no cap and rotor is gonna be very healthy at that kind of mileage. It should be changed weather it is the problem or not. Just my opinion though...

I agree with Ken.....I would replace the opti .....thats alot of miles for a distributor.
