passing smog without a cat?

Hey everyone,

I've heard from a couple board members in the past that it was possible to pass a stock z28 car even without its cat, as long as its at 1/2 tank and has been running for a while, all warmed up.

is this possible? Apparently, people have seen it done.

Also, would unhooking 2 injectors and keeping the car in open loop help at all?

dont plan on passing emission withouts your cats, if you have visual, an ORP will definately cause you not to pass.

I never tried either one of those but i don't think that it would be possible to pass without a cat. But it may depend on where you live. But in cali it just wont happen unless your really lucky. I don't think unplugging to injectors would help. I think it would just make you worse off.
