Cool Painting block, heads, intake

I'm currently working on a 383 stroker and have my block out of my car and completely stripped. I want to paint it, the heads, and the intake red. Does anyone have any experience with painting the engine? What type of paint did you use, and how well has it held up? Anyone have a reason why I shouldn't paint??

Any autoparts store should carry paint for engines. I wouldn't paint the heads, I would leave them alone, but again, it's just my own preference. What I did with mine, was to powdercoat the intake red, and painted the block black. The aluminum heads, gives it a nice contrast. My intake used to be powdercoated orange.

I did mine with actual body enamal and a spray gun. Lay down a nice coat of self etching primer regardless of what you use. You will love the way the paint attaches, and the durability of it if you do.

Nothing beat POR15 engine enamel. I painted my Jeep engine, and I dont think I can get the stuff off. Ever.
Search for it in google as I don't remember where exactly I ordered it from.

If doing it yourself, no real harm I 'spose. However, if ya were to pay someone to do it, I consider it a major waste of otherwise good money. In the past, there are those that have attempted to justify doing it, but AFAIC, rather spend the time massaging, with a grinder, the oil drain holes/passages, in block and heads. Much better use of free time.
