Pacesetters Long Tube Headers

I am wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge about the pacesetter long tube headers for my LT1. I'm looking at buying Chrome Ceramic Coated 94-95 LT1 Long Tube Headers. Is pacesetter a good header? I know about kooks and all them but those are out of my price range. I am just looking for a good header at a reasonable cost to give me some HP gains without emptying my pocket. Also, what's the difference between the Drag race LT and just the regulars? Is it just the emmisions? They are same price, is one better than the other?? Thanks in advance for any information.

Only difference is that the drag versions wont hook up to AIR and EGR.

Search for em on here. Brent did a great comparison with many pictures between these and hookers.

Long story short, these have thicher flanges, a durable coating, nice welds, and are WAY cheaper. Also, theire made of heavier gauge than the hookers i think ? Brent's review says for sure i think.

To install these longtubes, you DO NOT have to cut the K Member like with some of the other LT1 Long tube headers. They offer better ground clearance then nearly every other brand long tube.

The coating is inside and out, so it will help in retaining heat for better scavenging. And theyre less likely to burn up wires if you buy the coated ones.

The general conclusion on these is :Rite now best bang for the buck long tube out there. Has great coating, Nice welds, Thick Flanges, Great clearance for long tubes, Heavier guage than Hookers, 150$ cheaper then Hookers/Jethots whatever.

Mine will be to my door on Tues. so i can let you know firsthand what I think of mine.

All reviews for Pacesetter long tubes have been saying that theyre a great buy. Dont get these confused though with their Shorty headers, They were poorly produced and manufactured. The company has come a long way in quality from their shorties

Excelent headers for the price, everything mentioned above is dead on target. If you need a quality cost effective set of headers, these are the one for you.

Ok thanks for the info and i'm glad to hear they are good LT's, but what's the deal with air and EGR? People are saying they don't line up and that the dipstick is in the way. Anyone have any experience or comments on it? If that's the case, should i go with the Drag Race LT's and skip that stuff b/c i don't need to worry about emission here? Thanks for any help

i am having problems with my air and egr right now.

i called them and they didn't help me out at all.

i took care of the air issue, but don't know about the egr right now.

thats the negative side. i did my research and liked these headers until the air and egr problems.

the headers are nice. the install wasn't that bad, but wasn't nice at all. the spark plug acess on some of these is almost impossible to tight'n. i could only make them hand tight for 2 spark plugs(one driver side and one passenger). for the install, the drivers side went right in when i jacked up the car higher and the passenger side was not nice. i took of the valve cover an jacked up the motor and put it in from top. it still had trouble going in, but it went in.

So if i go w/ the Drag race LT's i don't have to worry about the AIR or EGR. What do i have to do to them? Do i just put them somewhere and leave them alone or do i have to do something so an error doesn't show. Now by not hooking them up is it going to hurt performance or anything or is emissions the only reason for them? Suggestions please

emissions is the only purpose. if u want to completely get rid of air, you have to delete it from the pcm and take out the air pump and the tubing.

for the egr. u also need to delete it from the pcm and u need to block alot of open holes. do a search and u can find more detailed info. just search air +egr under lt1 tech.

Actually, blocking off EGR is cake. I used 2 ply Dr. Pepper cans that i made out of the EGR gasket. You dont have to worry about the hole on the passenger side because if you block off the other one, they are connected (correct me if i am wrong).

the egr sucks!! I'm still having leaking from it. Overall, a very nice header, way better than my bbks. I could feel a decent gain over them till the damn egr started leaking bad and threw my timing way off. Im thinking jbweld should fix it this time. rtv only worked for about 2 weeks, ha ha. -Michael

Ok i think i've figured things out, but one last thing.

What's more of a pain in the a$$..........getting the Drag Race LT's and plugging the AIR and EGM and doin a pc delete or getting the regular LT's and trying to hook the AIR and EGM in and see how that goes??? Again i don't need to worry about emissions so that's not a problem. Thanks all for your help

one other thing

OFF ROAD Y-PIPE or NO off road y-pipe?????? What are the pros and cons to the off road y pipe? I read that it's more raspy if you put it on. I wan't a good deep sound and don't mind a little crackle and pop, but don't like a lot. Will the pacesetter LT's match up with what i have on it right now?? I have pretty much stock exhaust except i had a flowmaster put one with the stainless stele stock tips. Thoughts on this??? Thanks again

Just delete the AIR and EGR and get the drag race style.

Install was a breeze. Jack motor up for each side. Spark plug access is great. I didn't have any problems at all with that.

Drivers side header rubbed the steering shaft and could actually have come down a little farther, but can't beat the price, quality, and performance.
