Pacesetter y-pipe question

Does the pacesetter y-pipe come fitted w/a flange that will bolt up to the exhaust hanger that is behind the tranny? Or will I have to have something welded on?

Re: Pacesetter y-pipe question

Nope, the pacesetter y-pipe is a slip fit pipe so it doesn't have a flange on it.

So it slides into the i-pipe, and is clamped. Iknow they are supposed to fit to the stock pipe, but I've heard that the i-pipe needs to be cut.

Others with this y-pipe: How have you dealt with supporting the exhaust at this point? I'm sure it will rattle if I don't.

Re: Pacesetter y-pipe question

It comes with a bracket welded onto the y-pipe that is supposed to be bolted to tranny some way, but it didn't ever line up for me so I just left that part out. As long as you have a catback exhaust on there, it should never hit the floorpan and rattle but if you're just gonna have the exhaust exit right after the y-pipe then it will. Hope this helps.

yep, same with me it only lines up if you barely slide the y-pipe on the headers, but then you risk a chance of leaks so i just left it alone and it's doesnt rattle it will hang lower on that side but o well... also i ran mine for 2 days without a cat back and it didn't rattle.

Re: Pacesetter y-pipe question

It will not slip over or in a 3" catback. Learning that the hard way right now. I even emailed pacesetter, and they said it would....

yeah it's like a 3 &1/2 exit out of the y-pipe there clamp that they provide doesnt even do the trick so it's gonna have to be welded.

Re: Pacesetter y-pipe question

I recieved and installed the pacesetter y-pipe today, and it did come welded with a bracket that bolted up perfectly to the stock exhaust hanger. I was very happy.

Re: Pacesetter y-pipe question

Mine had a bracket, it lined up. I still haven't bothered bolting it up though.

All the slip fits on the y-pipe fit great, my catback was a nightmare though. Everything was way too tight.

Re: Pacesetter y-pipe question

The only problem I ran into with my setup was with the I-pipe of the Magnaflow catback...just to long....cut about 3-4 inches of the end of the y-pipe and everything went together perfect.

What does it connect to?

Re: Pacesetter y-pipe question

It connects to a hanger that inserts into a rubber bushing. It has two bolt holes that are vertically oriented. I think that it would stabilize the exhaust significantly. It seems that it would prevent it from hitting the floor ,too.
