Pacesetter Y-pipe hitting Torque Arm
Pacesetter Y-pipe hitting Torque Arm
I just installed my Pacesetter headers and ORY. The problem is where the y-pipe comes into one and hooks into the catback it is lieing right under(touching) my Spohn Torque Arm. Im not sure how much the torque arm moves and if this would be a problem. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks. -Matt
Re: Pacesetter Y-pipe hitting Torque Arm
Which torque arm design are you using, the crossmember style or the trans mounted style? Currently, my Pacesetter y-pipe is slightly hitting my stock torque arm and I am in the process of replacing it with a crossmember mounted Spohn arm. This will eliminate the problem. As a temporary fix, I wrapped the part of the y-pipe that was hitting the torque arm with header wrap.
Re: Pacesetter Y-pipe hitting Torque Arm
Is it hitting it when its on a lift or on the ground. remember once that suspension gets loaded down the torque arm should move up a little. anyways mine was almost touching on the lift but on the ground i dont here any vibration or bumping noise so im pretty sure its clearing fine. im using the stock arm though.
Re: Pacesetter Y-pipe hitting Torque Arm
I am pretty sure it is hitting when I jacked the rear all the way up and when it is hanging down. I think I need to take a closer look at it and see how much the torque arm actually moves. But if the torque arm is hitting the y-pipe to much do I need to just dent in the exhuast?
Re: Pacesetter Y-pipe hitting Torque Arm
That's pretty odd. I just did the pacesetter midlengths and Y-pipe and had to clearance problems. The only thing I had to do was run a test pipe where the cat was. My car is a '93

Re: Pacesetter Y-pipe hitting Torque Arm
mine doesnt hit the torque arm but it hits the tunnel brace, BAD!!! I took off the tunnel brace and made my own out of some tubing and a couple of flat pieces of metal. It's not the cleanest looking thing but could be easily mistaken for a Spohn Tunnel brace.

Re: Pacesetter Y-pipe hitting Torque Arm
The y-pipe was real close to the stock torque arm on my car too. But I just put dual cats into the y-pipe and the extra joints allowed me to flex it down a little to avoid making contact. I don't have my tunnel brace mounted either because one of the bolts is snapped off(I didn't do it) and I haven't had a chance to try and drill it out.
