Pacesetter Mid's too Pacesetter Long Tubes...

I know there are alot of posts about LT's, but I've been running Mid's for 6 years and thought they where fine.... Was I wrong!!!! I'm sure they where fine until the first cam head upgrade. The car sounds completely different, reve's faster, pulls harder all the way to 6800 and it's quieter in the car. I will be going to the dyno in the next week or so, but I bet with my current combo I will gain 10-20 RWHP across the board, and who know how much peak. Well see.

In conclusion, I will say "I wish I would have bought the LT's to start with!!" if you don't plan on anything more than bolt-ons then the mids are fine but if you ever think you may do a head cam, or bigger cubes then save the extra money and buy LT's.

What I put on where a set of Coated Off Road Pacesetter long tubes and matching Y and they fit VERY well, with only having to take off the oil filter to install the drivers side, and a little grinding on the steering shaft knuckle.

You will probably gain more torque than horsepower especially in the lower rpm range.

Pacesetter Mid-length headers come with a Y. I could not get the car to Reve on the dyno, and the long tubes freed it to reve easier.

Re: Pacesetter Mid's too Pacesetter Long Tubes...

My thoughts as well. I've had two sets of shortys (BBK's on a 94 Z28, Edelbrock on a 97 SS) and swapped my shortys out for Pacesetter LTs on my 97 SS in the Spring of 2010. Being a bolt-on car, I didn't notice much of an increase but I did it in preparation of a future heads/cam setup, that who knows will ever happen.

Shortys are great for a bolt-on car, especially if you have ground clearance but when your putting close to 400 horsepower to the rear wheels, you should definitely consider upgrading to long tubes. I always tell people to think of where they plan on ending up with their car when planning their exhaust.
