Pacesetter LT's Vs. Hooker LT's

Other than the price difference, what is the difference between Pacesetter LT's and Hooker LT's? Is there something about the Hookers that justifies almost $200 more?

Ive had both. Hookers are cheaper build quality, worse fit, worse ground clearance, and worse plug access. go figure.

but you have to keep in mind, hooker is the ONLY LT header for the LT1 that has all tubes eqaul length.. and isnt that the whole point of having long tubes???

Ummm.... call me stupid, but isn't the point of a long tube header so taht it has a longer range of a wide single pipe to travel so that its not as backed up? i didn't know that them having different length tubes would matter at all.

Re: Pacesetter LT's Vs. Hooker LT's

I have heard that the "equal length" in the headers is for when each cylinder fires, the one that fired before it is able to pull the other pulse out from the cylinder that fired after it, to make a more scavenging effect and help produce more power. I may be wrong though. I have had Hooker's on other car's, and NEVER again will I buy em.

The advantage of the Hookers is that it is a flange style header so it makes y-pipe disassembly much easier in the future as compared to the Pacesetter which is the slip fit style. I have the Pacesetters and for the price, they are a pretty decent header and fitment is very good. I used band clamps all the way around so disassembly in the future should be easier.

Summit claims the cheapest price guarunteed. I'm planning on a set of Pacesetter LT's myself. From all the brands I've read about from owners/users, the Pacesetters seems to have the best plug clearance. Make sure you don't get the "old" versions since I heard they had frustrating clearance problems which the NEW versions have corrected.

I forgot to mention that Summit was where I got mine, at that time, they were the cheapest. I think a couple of the board's supporting vendors are running sales though so maybe you could get a cheaper set from them.

The purpose of a long tube header is to maximize torque below the engine's torque peak. On auto trans cars, some even lengthen the collector for further torque gains.

It just cost me $27.00 to have the 3'' flanges welded on my new set of pace headers. So now i have an easy disconnect set of headers like the hooker, with out the extra $200.00 spent.

Re: Pacesetter LT's Vs. Hooker LT's

I know jet-hots are not mentioned but IMO they are better than both. I have had a set of each one, jet-hots by far had nicer welds and build was with much more quality. I actually had posted on here pics of jet-hots vs. pacesetters, use the search and you might find it, although it was 6 months ago. Go with jet-hots, marylandspeed.com sells them for $520 shipped and there coated w/3bolt flange. I'll put my hands down for JET-HOTS by FAR.

Re: Pacesetter LT's Vs. Hooker LT's

how are the jet hots for spark plug clearance? Can you run over the valve cover wires with them, as well as the stock location?
