Pacesetter Long Tubes - Reviews (LT1)

Heloo just wondering what the LT1 guys had to say about the Pacesetter Long Tubes? Haven't heard or seen much about them a lot of LS1 reviews out there. Any fitment problems? Other issues? Thanks

Have you tried a search ? I have seen quite a bit of info on them. someone even took a lot of pictures of them and hooker LTs and have a side by side comparison. From what I hear mostly everyone likes them. Mine should be here by the end of the week w Y pipe and o2 extentions. Can't wait to be extreemly frustrated with the install I know I will, all most every mod I have done has made throw something across the car port. No pain No gain

What did you guys think of the hardware ( header bolts ) and gaskets from Pacesetter. I was going to order mine this week but got caught up with a buncha stuff, so im not ordering them for a few days still. I was told by a few ppl that the bolts and gaskets are junk and to jsut order ARP 1" by 5/16" as well as Fel-Pro 1406's ... Im sort of on a budget though, and if the gaskets and headerbolts arent that bad but they have sand in their vagina's ...

I really like my pacesetters. Mine went in with no problems at all. I used the hardware and gaskets and have had no problems for about 2,000 miles. The entire install only took 6 hours and that includes y-pipe and removing manifolds.

The gaskets are actually pretty nice and thick, I used Fel-Pro 1406's and Stage 8 locking header bolts though.

Must have been nice only 6 hours, I also have a LT1 along with a LS1, and put the pace setters on the LT1, took us about 2 days off and on to get them into place, the heat sheilds on these cars are the biggest pain to remove, also busted both o2's up frount so replaced them both, didn't get one of the heat sheilds off around the driver side header and it just makes a lot of noise, we also had problems with getting the header in place on the block, as we all know theres so much room to work under the hood of these cars. But we did use the gaskets it came with have a slit leak on the passenger side that was our fault, but the headers also didn't fit perfectly had to do a few adjustments to them.

The car ran better after we got them on and adjusted, no cats, and just a flowmaster muffler on the end, car was running a 14.0 at 98 in the quater mile, and improved with the headers and y-pipe with a good launch to a 13.7 @ 102 mph on street tires.
Not bad for a car with 140,000 miles on it. We're going to get some nittos and see what the car does on those perfomance wise, we also go a cut out to put on it so it will by pass the muffler. Talk about loud!

RUQUIKER ~ How does your exhaust sound with no cat, ORY, and PS LT's? Im going to basically have the same setup as you for an exhaust. A Flowmaster catback, ORY, and Pacesetter LT's ...

Also, thanks everyone, after hearing that, I'm going to stick with Pacesetter's bolts and gaskets ... It'll save me $50, and for me retightening the bolts after a few heat cycles, and periodly checking them wont be a problem. I work a nice evening shift from 5-9 and am out of school for the summer so I'll have more then enough time to retighten them if I need too.

As far as the O2's, my car has 14,000 original miles on it, so I was planning on using the old 02's as long as they dont break trying to take them out.

ORY???

The car sounds mean, I think people sometimes can't determine if its got headers or some kind of cam in it. When I get the cut out on it, well that will be straight exhaust, no restrictions. We'll see how much louder it gets, I really don't want the car too over poweringly loud, so I can close off the cut out if needed.

The car pulls a lot harder then it did with the stock set up, felt better, I did dyno the car, but I didn't get a baseline dyno before I did the mods on the car. Dynoed 266/292. I'm going to dyno the car again later on in the month see if some mods I'm currently doing help any.

So far I have modded the car with: SFC's, BMR lower control arms, strut tower brace, Elec. Water pump, MSD 8.5 spark plug wires, the NGK 55's, SLP cold air kit, Pace setter headers and y-pipe, cut out, no rear O2's, switched from 2.73 gears to 3.42's.

you know i was kind of curious about pacesetters. i have a set of edelbrock midlengths and there is no way to keep the #6 plug from burning. i looked at the comparison pics with the hookers and pacesetters and the pacesetters look just like the edelbrocks, as far as primary routing that is. does any have any issues with #6 plug wires and there pacesetters?

The wires and plugs fit in there just fine.
