Pacesetter Headers- AMAZING fitment!

I just put the headers in the car (not completely bolted down, just with a couple of bolts) and I have to say the fit is AWESOME. I didn't need to jack the motor at all, I already had the dipstick, starter, alternator, and steering linkage pulled for my heads/cam install, and the passenger side header just slipped right in, and then I went to the other side, and the header literally slid right in. This
was with the car on JACKSTANDS!

I couldn't believe how easy it was. Now I just have to bolt the stuff I took off back on, and I can finally start the car after the H/C ported intake, electric wp, longtube headers, etc. install!

I'd reccomend these headers to anyone. I got the coated version. The welds looked nice inside and out and the coating was quality as well. I got the non-emissions version. For $400 you really can't be that price for a great set of longtubes.

I'm hearing more and more about how great these are install wise. This is starting to make me more confident that headers won't be as bad as I think

Re: Pacesetter Headers- AMAZING fitment!

I currently have pacesetter shorty headers on my t/a. When I installed them I heard a bad exhaust leak. One of the welds around the tubes was not welded all the way!! I had to finish welding the tube to remove the exhaust leak. I wasn't happy to say the least. Since then, I have had no problems.
Just FYI

Re: Pacesetter Headers- AMAZING fitment!

When I got shorties, not only were some of the welds not really clean (like the welder ran out of gas halfway and kept going) but there was also a lot of splatter.

That and even with extra short header plugs, two of them wouldnt go in without taking out a few header bolts and rotating it out of the way, installing the plug, and putting it back. I was not happy at all with quality, tech support (They told me my problem physically couldnt happen... I offered to send pics) and just everything in general. I've heard good things of their longtubes - but otherwise I've personally never had even an "okay" experience with pacesetter.

Guy's he's talking about the long tubes. I also have a pacesetter LT's and they have nice welds and the fitment was absolutely perfect. Pacesetter is making some really nice LT's.

Totally different animals design and quality wise.

They really did a good job with their longtubes, I'm impressed.

I put a set on my car with the engine out, that was cake.

Just helped a buddy with his. Both went in through the top, good clearence everywhere. Much nicer IMO than my old hooker LTs.

Wow, both through the top? I didn't know it could be done.

I have that problem w/ the steering linkage being rubbed every now and then w/ my mac's... I think it is just a loose header bolt problem though, because every time I tighten the bolts it dissapears for a year or so.

Re: Pacesetter Headers- AMAZING fitment!

Did you install high flow cats with them? I want LT's soon after my cam install and I want to go Pacesetter or Jet Hot because of their feedback. But since Pacesetters are much cheaper, they seem like the right choice.

You get their Y too?

You weld everything together yourself?

For those with the exhaust leaks at the manifolds/headers... did you hear a nice tick? That you thought could of been your lifters or valve tap?

Drivers = steering column and valve cover out. Easy fit.
Passenger = alternator, starter, valve cover. Kinda had to play with it, but it went in. It was hung up between the heater box and a head bolt, but finally slid into place.

Neither car i saw had steering column rubbing issues. Their Y pipe fits up tightly, but too tightly on the drivers side. Both cars it vibrated. I fixed that with a BFH.

I used the lt4 starter and I put it in through the top without any problems at all.

Re: Pacesetter Headers- AMAZING fitment!

I've read alot of how easy it is to install. But how bout performance wise? Any flow #s or dyno differences with these compared to AS&M, Jet-Hot, or Hooker?
