Pacesetter headers?

I'm looking at getting Pacesetter 94-97 LT1 F-body long tube Headers (Ceramic Coated). I'll need to get a new y-pipe right? I've heard some good things about these headers, and the price fits my budget. Let me know! =)

Re: Pacesetter headers?

Me and 2 of my buddies have them and we all have had no problems. We all use the pacesetter y pipe also which is a nice peice. You will have to cut some of your I pipe to make it work. If you want to see them in person we live by Fort wayne if you want to make the drive.

Re: Pacesetter headers?

I'm doing this myself, I already have the y-pipe off, the bolts all snapped in the stock manifolds ( y-pipe to manifold bolts ). I'm about to take the stock manifolds off, I'm just a little timid that those bolts would break in the heads? Also, you said I need to take off some of the I-pipe? I'm confused as to what you mean by that. I have a hooker 3" catback with a random tech. hi flow cat welded on the y-pipe. What will I need to take off? Are these hard to install? Thanks man!

I have the ps lts, w/ps ory. The ypipe connects further back on the I-pipe, what he means is you'd have to saw some of the i pipe off to slip the ypipe over it correctly.

You'll see when you get the ypipe test fitted on.

Re: Pacesetter headers?

I have a set I just ordered and am about to put them on with a buddy who has been running them with the Pacesetter Y pipe for a year now with no problems. Another buddy that has hookers said he wishes pacesetter would have been out when he got his headers cause he would much rather have the ground clearance of the Pacesetters compared to his hookers along with the easier install, so yeah, get the pacesetters . Im already impressed by the welds and quality and I haven't even put them on. They look like nice pieces, now its time to get first hand experience of how they perform. I picked them up ceramic coated with the Y pipe and O2 extensions from redlineperformance for $588.95 shipped.

Don't worry too much about it. We snapped every one of my ypipe bolts, but had no trouble with any of them coming out of the head.

Re: Pacesetter headers?

i just recieved my pacesetters in the mail a few days back. they look nice, although i question some of the quality craftsmanship into the welding. they had quite a few very small splatters of welds and big pieces of metal stuck to the inside of the O2 bung, which i got off with a dremel. overall, i like them and can't wait to put them in....nobody looks at the details anyway once it's in the car, and the splatters are hard to see. definately worth the 359.99 i paid for the headers from Speed engineering. shoot them an email and see what ya think
