Pacesetter collecter length?

I need to fix up these chopped up collecters on the pacesetter LT's I bought, and was wondering if someone could measure the exact length of the collecter? It would be greatly appreciated. What type of flanges would you recommend? Standard 3-bolt or ball flanges?

Re: Pacesetter collecter length?

If you really want to tune the collector and aren't worried about also needing a custom Y pipe, they will likely end up longer than originally designed. The way this is done is to butt weld a longer length of tubing to the collector. Paint a line lengthwise on that pipe and take the car out for a 1/4 mile run. The paint will burn off up close by the collector but will stay relatively intact at some point past the collector. It is at that point where the remaining paint is intact that the collector length would be ideal, especially for auto trans cars. This is done to maximize low end torque. Cut off at that line where the paint is still intact and you can either weld a flange or just mae it a simple slip fit using a band clamp.
