Pacesetter

Ok, so are pacesetter headers any good? I'm kinda scared. They have to be so cheap for a reason.

Re: Pacesetter

I will probably just pay someone to do it. All the painted ones can do its rust, and it's not like you can see them anyway.

Re: Pacesetter

I love mine had em for about a year now, wish I had got them coated, but nothing is wrong with them, and yes sparkplug access is great and they go in very easy, only thing I had to do putting them in was unhook the steering knuckle

Re: Pacesetter

I've had mine in for over a year and a half, from Redline Performance Engineering. The ones I got from them at the time came Jet-Hot coated, and the coating is holding up very well. There's some minor rust around the creases of where the flanges/primaries meet, but nothing major. Very happy with mine...the gains were VERY noticeable.

Re: Pacesetter

I have a 95 Twin Cat Z28 and I have been thinking on long tubes myself.

Questions.... I live in Hawaii so I dont need the Cats here. I will do away with them.

1) Do the long tubes stick out the bottom? I dont wanna see no friggin tubes sticking down bellow if I can help it.

2) Where can I get the Y Pipe to fit them or do I need to manufacture mine?

3) I hear so many of you guys with Exaust leaks .... What gaskets are you guys using? I want to avoid the tricky ones and go with tested ones..

4) Did you guys used any special exhaust bolts?? or what you call them?

5) thanks for the info about the pacesetters... I wil be looking into them

1)If you get on your hands and knees and look underneath your car, you will see them sitting lower than a normal exhaust.
2)Pacesetter also sells an accompanying catless y-pipe for around 130.00
3)The Pacesetters are a slip-fit system meaning the y-pipe slides over the header collectors, I used 3" band clamps and they made a perfect seal. As for the headers gaskets, the ones Pacesetter provides are worthless, I upgraded to some Fel-Pro 1406s and sprayed them with a light coat of copper adhesive spray.
4)I used the Pacesetter header bolts that came with the kit. I tightened them up after a few runs and they are still holding firm. Alot of people upgrade to Breslins or Stage 8 locking bolts. I might in the future during the engine rebuild or sooner if they become an immediate problem.

Are we talking mid-tubes or long tubes here?

Re: Pacesetter

I have been wodering how the Pacesetter mid-tubes compare to the MAC mid-tubes.
The coated Macs cost $610 shipped from Jethot.
The coated Pacesetters cost just over 400.00 on Ebay.
They both are 5/8 primaries with 2.5 collectors. It does appear that the MACS have better plug access.

I would have to imagine that they both provide the same gains.

Re: Pacesetter

i've got the mid's on mine, and i couldn't ask for more. i got them coated and they look great. The only thing is i the shop i took it took had to cut the y-pipe, and weld in a new piece so the passenger side header can bolt up, other than that there great.
