overheating
my camaro (94 lt1) is overheating sitting at Idle. (It hasn't yet, but If I didn't watch it I think it would) When I rev it up to about 2k it starts to cool off. It never gets hot when I'm moving. It usually stays at 180 degrees when I'm on the road. I have flushed the system before, and it is possible I didn't get the air bled off correctly. I was thinking it could also be a weak water pump, but I am not much of a diagnoser. anybody got any suggestions? thanks

Are your fans coming on?
Open your radiator cap, start the engine, you'll see the coolant flowing (increasing with rpm) right below the cap. If its not, bad wp.
Re: overheating
This happened to me... at a stop the needles starts to climb and if you powerbrake or put the car in neutral and rev the engine the temp will drop for a while but then climb. Found it to be the lines were full of air. This was also causing my overflow to bubble and shake when I shut the car off.
when the car is cold open up the bleeder screws and fill the radiator up to the
neck until you see a steady stream of coolant coming out of both holes. Tighten them up and fill up radiator to neck and overflow to appropriate
level and install the cap. it usually takes about 5 to 10min to get all the
air out with the screws open so you will have to add coolant and wait a while till water level drops and add some more...etc. you can run the car for about 3minutes and then shut it off and remove cap (engine should still be cold)
and refil and bleed as necessary. This is what I did. If its not this try the
cap replacement with oem and if its not that then we might be looking at a
water pump failure but sounds just like the problem i had so it shouldnt be anything major. I got my air into my system from a small pinhole leak on my radiator at the top so I do this process once a week just to be safe cuz i have no money to buy and replace the radiator yet...
Good luck and let me know what happens

Re: overheating
do a search for "bleeding the radiator" or a variant of that
there are 2 screws...both brass and located on the top of the coolant system on the hoses just to the left of the intake (standing at the nose of the car)
i would bleed the system again.
as for the pin hole, get it fixed...the LT1 needs 18lbs of pressure in it's coolant system. that's ALOT. so that pin hole could screw things up.

I'm having a similar problem...narrowed it down to either the thermostat or air in the lines. Here's a good site shoebox sent to me, its his site I believe

Re: overheating
Ooops! Sorry...I forgot about the possibility of the t-stat... I suggest you
start by bleeding the system and then go from cheapest part to most expensive in replacement.
