Overflow replacement on lt1

I recently flushed my coolant and flushed the heater core at the same time, about 800miles ago. I found that my overflow bottle is cracked around the top where the funnel part meets the tank. Not sure how it happened. Just Noticed the leak and traced it to there after removing my battery.

can I simply disconnect it and add a new overflow reservoir refilled in its place without having any air pocket/ bleeding issues?

Does the reservoir still hold coolant at the correct level? Is the radiator filled to the top with coolant? As long as the reservoir has been functioning, and keeping the radiator full, it’s as simple as removing the old one, installing a new one, and filling it to the correct level with a 50/50 water/coolant mix - no bleeding required. Make sure there are no cracks in the overflow line from the radiator to the reservoir, if that hose is cracked, the system can’t keep the radiator full as the temperature cools down, and then you will get air in the system.

Thank you!

Yes, it stays at the correct level. The crack is above the correct level. Must have just got hot enough to get to that crack and spill over alittle

You’ll be fine. Take out the battery, remove and install new overflow bottle and you should be golden.
