Over heating Help

My 95 Z28 is running hot and the Low coolant level indicator is on. It seems to have plenty of antifreeze in it. I have recently installed a throttle body bypass on it would this cause this. I ussually run about 180 degrees and at an idle I am runninf about 210 degrees. The other thought I had is hat maybe the thermostat is sticking but why the low fluid light? Any ideas.

Re: Over heating Help

Them are normal temps for a stock z28 the fans don't even kick on till 215/230 I think. Asuming its the stock thermostat it should be a 180. As for the low coolent light, I fill mine up to the bottomish of the neck not sure where yours is at.

Re: Over heating Help

I have always run around 185 degrees and the fluid levels are at the bottom of the neck. The light only came on after the bypass was installed.

Don't know if you maybe got air in the system somehow? It's not unusual for the low coolant sensor to go bad too...but if it just changed after the bypass probably not it. Check out http://shbox.com he has a link for cooling troubleshooting.

Re: Over heating Help

The radiator should be full to the top and the remote reservior filled to the proper level. You miight have a little air in the system from your work. Low coolant sensors are a problem child. The light may go out after you get your levels where they need to be. It might take a few days, though. If it keeps acting up, you'll probably need to replace it.
