OTVC wires

I've got a 97 Z-28. I gotta get a set of OTVC's now it seems since I've burnt through a wire. My question is this: Is it better to go with top mount or side mount looms?

Probably a matter of perference, alot of people on here, including myself, are using the top mount style. I am considering the side mount style down the road so I can actually see my chrome Bowtie valve covers that I plan on installing down the road.

How well do the top mounts clear the oil fill tube on the passenger side valve cover? Do you have any pics of yours?

I don't have a very good picture, but the wire setup does clear the oil cap completely.

At first I had the side mounts, but determined they were much more agrivating to setup, they also have more clearance issues.

I then went with the top mounts which are a great deal easier to deal with. I like the top mounts.

I like the top mounts better and they're further away from the headers.

I just put these on two days ago, well worth it in my opinion, and I went with the top mounts. As far as the oil filler next, I removed it when I had my SLP headers. The AIR tubes were in the way somehow so I pulled it off and just use the cap.

as far as I know as a kit .. YES. But, you could order everything seperately if you wanted, TR just puts it under one item number so your not shopping for everything you need.

The side mounts are no more of a hassle than the top mount wires. One benefit of the side mount wires is that you don't have to removed them everytime you want to remove your valve covers.

hey i just ordered this kit from thunder racing and i ran into a problem. the coil wire wont work. in the opti end kit they give a generic 90* boot. that is incorrect. the stock coil wire has the same terminal as the opti ends. how do you make it work?

I burned through the plug wire even with the boot insulators. They're only good to 500 degrees constantly. I'm sure the headers get warmer than that. Anyway, top mount OTVC's are on the way. Hopefully they make it to my house by the weekend. I haven't driven my Z-28 more than a couple miles in the last three weeks. I'm really beginning to miss the power.
